One of my favorite kinds of yes is the spontaneous one. 🌿

Recently, my children asked if we could have a picnic by the water.

And without hesitation, I said yes.

Not because I felt I should.

Not because I felt guilty.

Not because I was trying to be a good mom.

💛 But because I genuinely wanted to.

I felt calm.

Present.

Relaxed.

Excited.

I could feel something in me saying:

"Yes. Let's do this."

...And the important part was the feeling.

For so many years, I lived in my head.

Weighing options.

Considering consequences.

Thinking about what made the most sense.

And somewhere along the way, I became disconnected from what I actually wanted.

Not because I didn't care about myself.

But because I had become so focused on everyone else.

These days, I notice when a genuine yes appears.

It feels light.

Simple.

Alive.

Like something in me relaxes and moves forward at the same time.

And I've realized something.

The greatest gift isn't being able to say yes to other people.

It's being able to hear your own yes again.

To trust it.

To follow it.

To know that your needs, your joy, and your aliveness belong in the conversation too.

The picnic lasted a couple of hours.

The feeling stayed much longer.

When was the last time you said a genuine, wholehearted yes to something?
I used to call myself a control freak.

Now I understand I was trying to create safety in a life that rarely felt emotionally safe. 💔

For a long time, I thought controlling everything was simply part of my personality.

But looking back now, I can see that control became my way of protecting myself.

Things often came out of the blue.

I was often made to feel like I had done something wrong.

So I learned to anticipate.

Manage.

Monitor.

Perfect.

Not because I was difficult.

But because unpredictability didn’t feel safe.

I also carried a very black-and-white idea of who I “should” be.

And honestly, that ideal kept me from truly getting to know myself.

Today, I see something very differently.

The fact that I can hold ideals and visions is actually one of my strengths. ✨

The difference now is that I’m no longer abandoning myself in the process.

I no longer try to control everyone else’s journey.

I allow people to live the leading role of their own lives while staying present in the leading role of mine.

And because of that, I move through change with far more calm. 🌿

Because regardless of what happens around me,

I know myself.

I know my boundaries.

And I have my own back. 🤍

✨ What we often call personality is sometimes survival.

🎯 Control.

💔 Perfectionism.

🤝 People-pleasing.

🧠 Over-responsibility.

Lately, I've found myself wanting more sunsets. Like this one from our cottage in the heart of Sweden. 🌅

More moments of simply stopping.

Watching.

Receiving.

Not because a sunset changes anything.

But because it reminds me that not everything needs to be changed.

I've noticed the same feeling in unexpected conversations.

The kind that happen because two paths happen to cross.

And in moments of stillness.

When nothing needs to be solved.

Nothing needs to be achieved.

Nothing needs to be improved.

Perhaps some of the most meaningful parts of life arrive this way.

Not through striving.

Not through effort.

But through presence.

A sunset.

A conversation.

A quiet evening.

A moment that asks nothing from you except that you are there to receive it.

And lately, that feels like a kind of wealth all its own.

To their own inner voice.

To a body and mind that finally get to rest, replenish, and receive.

One of my favorite feelings in the world is coming back to our summer cottage after being away for a couple of weeks. 🌱

I've planted seeds.

Watered when needed.

Done what I can.

And then I leave.

✨️ When I come back, something has always changed.

A squash that wasn't there before.

A bean plant reaching higher.

Flowers opening - like the purple sage from last year in the picture below. 💜

Life quietly continuing without me.

And every time, it reminds me of something.

Everything good is worth waiting for.

Nothing can be pushed.

Nothing can be pressured into growing faster.

The garden doesn't respond to control.

🤍 It responds to care. 

To attention.

To patience.

To time.

I think people are a lot like that.

Healing is.

Life is.

Not everything grows at the same pace.

Not everything blooms at the same time.

The garden is never perfect.

And that's exactly what makes it alive.

When I walk through it, I don't feel disappointment.

I feel gratitude.

✨️ And curiosity. 

Like a child discovering something for the first time.

I get to enjoy every little chapter.

Every sprout.

Every surprise.

Every sign of life.

Maybe that's one of the greatest gifts I've received through my own healing.

Less pressure. 🌿

More trust.

Less control.

More appreciation.

For what is.

For what is becoming.

And for the quiet force of life itself.

Perfectionism didn’t make me successful. It made me believe I had to abandon myself to be worthy, needed, and loved.

For a long time, that looked like strength.

I pushed through when my body asked for rest. 🥀

I held space for everyone else. 
Encouraged everyone else to take up space and told everyone else it was okay to say no.

Meanwhile, I felt guilty doing those things myself. 💔

I was constantly stressed. 
Constantly self-critical. 
Constantly emotionally “on.”

And no matter how much I accomplished, I never truly felt done.

It wasn’t until burnout, deep self-abandonment, and a relationship where no one else was looking out for my wellbeing that something inside me finally woke up.

I realized: If I kept living this way, I would disappear.

I used to think I would die for my children.

🤍 Then one day I decided: I wanted to live for them instead.

That decision changed everything. 

✨️ Today, instead of leaking energy into over-responsibility and trying to hold the world together, my energy flows where I consciously choose for it to go.

There is stillness where there used to be noise.

I feel whole. At peace.
I’m an anchor in this life now.
